Are you ready for General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)?

The introduction of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in May will have many implications, not least for marketing. There are a number of areas relating to data capture, transfer, storage and use where we are helping our clients conform to the new regulations.

Supporting consent-based marketing

As you probably already know, after May 25th you will only be able to market to people who have consented to receive information from you, and a record of consent must be kept. We are helping clients with data cleaning and their ongoing “stay connected” email campaigns.

Encouraging people to opt in to future communications

We expect conforming to GDPR will result in significantly reduced prospect contact lists. To help address this and to ensure that our clients are engaging with people who do want to hear from them, we have been exploring ways of capturing people’s details for future marketing in-line with GDPR via lead generation software.

Ensuring secure data collection and transfer

We are recommending that clients also add an SSL certificate if their website includes an online enquiry form. Having a security certificate is becoming accepted practice; it’s good for SEO as Google uses it as a ranking factor.

Plus, we now have an area on our website to allow data to be securely transferred between us and our clients.

Updating contact forms on your website

Existing data capture forms on websites must be updated to give people the option to agree to be sent information. As our licenced content management system Kentico is renowned as being one of the most secure systems on the market so any data collected through it is securely stored.

Updating the Privacy Policy on your website

Privacy policies must be updated to reassure website visitors that any personal data that is collected will be securely managed and stored, only used in line with consent permissions, and will not be shared with any third party.

Ensuring ‘Right to be Forgotten’

Finally, we have put a process in place to ensure that if someone wishes to be removed from our client’s database that this is carried out.

Willow Chiropractic is a successful UK based practice with clinics located throughout the south west.
